Elisabeth Gellert
An experienced science teacher and tutor
I qualified as a Secondary School Science Teacher, specialising in Chemistry in 2013 after completing my PGCE at The University of Oxford. I began my teaching career in a Secondary State School in Oxford before becoming the Head of Chemistry at an Independent School near Oxford in 2017.
After completing my final year laboratory research project on vaccine development against Meningitis B, I decided to pursue a career in teaching. I believe it is important that students have Science teachers who are enthused and excited by Science and who can equip and inspire them in their learning.
I have now started my own private tutoring business aimed at providing personalised support to students studying Science to help them grow in their confidence and boost their attainment.
I am available to provide tuition for students all over the world who would like to improve their Science results.
My Experience
10 years of delivering high quality Science lessons.
For 10 years I have been helping students to achieve their maximum potential, both in the classroom and through private tuition. I have taught Biology and Chemistry up to A Level and Physics up to GCSE. I have been responsible for developing schemes of work designed to engage and challenge students in their learning. I have extensive experience in designing resources and assessments for a range of different age groups and abilities. These skills are integral to my tutoring methods.

My Approach
Clear explanations that boost student understanding.
I use a clear straightforward style to provide personalised in-depth tutoring to students studying Science. My aim is to help students grow in confidence, to increase their scientific understanding and improve their exam technique in order for them to maximise their attainment.
I primarily deliver my tuition online as it gives flexibility within a lesson to cover different topics and access a wide range of resources. I use the shared screen function to show students a whiteboard on which I can draw diagrams and write explanations whilst engaging the student through asking questions.
To consolidate understanding, I follow up explanations with appropriate questions/exam questions using the shared screen function. Any resources used during a lesson are then sent to the student. If parents or students request it, I will set homework which can be used to further consolidate the lesson content or to prepare for the next lesson.
